destinations: unknown is a charity that empowers individuals to chase their own personal dreams, or “destinations,” and raise money in the process through donations to effect change on a larger scale. Unlike traditional charities that focus primarily on raising funds for a single cause through a predetermined event, our charity encourages participants to chart their own personal goals (which may range from running a marathon to climbing a mountain to paddle boarding from one city or island to another) to raise funds and awareness for a new cause, or “destination unknown,” we select each year.

Our inaugural cause, or destination unknown, in 2009 was in the spirit of a nation unknown – Ethiopia. In partnership with A Glimmer of Hope, we raised over $6,000 to build a well that will supply water to more than 200 people for upwards of 20 years. Since then through 2011 we’ve raised nearly $17,000, raising support for two new amazing causes (see selected destinations unknown) and we’re just getting started!

In 2011, we’ve reached several new milestones and have expanded our team. Congratulations to Juan Antonio Pino and Tony Muina, our first teenage dynamic duo, for conquering the Highlander II Adventure race in Bartow, Florida; Kirk Nelson for toppling another mountain, Mt. Katahdin in NH; and Mckenzie Montazemi, our first female and inspiration, for taking on the Warrior Dash in Deerfield Beach, Florida!
